Untold stories from the wrongfully convicted. A podcast from APPEAL.

Season One: Cookie

Season One of Surviving Injustice tells Cookie’s story, a woman we believe to have been wrongfully convicted of killing her baby. In this three-part series, we follow the sequence of events that led to her imprisonment and the fight to clear her name.

S1E1: Surviving Petee

Cookie’s baby son Petee died tragically, suddenly and without explanation. Months later the police knock on the door, and her life is turned upside down for a second time.

S1E2: Maintaining Innocence

Maintaining innocence in prison does not make you popular, and if it’s for a crime against a child, you are the lowest of the low. What happens when Cookie is sent to prison for a crime she claims she did not commit?

S1E3: Confront the Power

How would you cope if you spent 14 years in prison for a crime you did not commit?  How would you pass the time? Who would stand by you? What happens when Cookie is released? From Love Island to prison reform.
