Blog: Bound By Injustice group virtually reunited during lockdown
Bound By Injustice is a group of miscarriage of justice survivors made up of the people we represent and their loved ones. At APPEAL we address the wider circle of harm caused by miscarriages of justice, not just the legal case.
No longer able to meet in person, Bound By Injustice recently convened its first video conference. Bound By Injustice group members told us what it felt like to reconnect through screens during the pandemic.
Bound By Injustice will be convening together again soon, with the extraordinary Jennifer Thompson facilitating a Healing Justice circle for the group. Jennifer mistakenly identified Ronald Cotton as her rapist in 1984. He was exonerated by DNA testing in 1995.
Jennifer has since dedicated her life to educating people about the dangers of eyewitness identification evidence and to working to heal the wounds of wrongful convictions among former prisoners and crime victims.
APPEAL and the Bound By Injustice group are honoured to have Jennifer hosting a Healing Justice circle with us.
